q2pro for arm64 (Armbian, Pi, etc)

Armbian Logo

Edit 7/9/2026: Builds compiled against same src as my other builds now, so CHANGES.md is accurate. More mods added into the arm64-mods folder (action quake 1.51, action quake jump mod, regular jump mod, chaos mod, q2master). Also added q2admin.

Edit 7/8/2026: Builds updated, some mods added into the arm64-mods folder. The CHANGES.md does not currently reflect the arm64 builds. Other than the mvd parse compile fix.

Not tested in really any capacity at all. It should work though. In order to run servers with it, you’ll need to download the source of the mod and compile a gamearm64.so file. In most cases that should be a simple git clone <repo url>, and then a make command in the src folder.

I’ll try and compile some of the more popular mods tomorrow to include with it.

Downloads available in https://quake2.itbacon.com/public/q2pro/ — although I might move them into an arm64 subfolder, or maybe q2pro-arm64 folder off of /public. So check /public/ if you don’t see them in the q2pro folder.

And yes, I do plan to upload things into https://github.com/itbacon in the future. I just haven’t had the time to experiment with git more yet.

The binaries were compiled with the following versions included:
Edit: openssl shows missing in some of the .log files, I’ll upload new builds tomorrow evening.

PowerShell on.. a Pi ?!

That’s right! If you didn’t know, powershell is (nearly?) completely cross-platform.

I’ve recently been working on a server status script for work and I chose to do it in powershell. It does threaded pings, generates html files, etc.

With zero modifications at all the script runs flawlessly on both Ubuntu Linux and my Orange Pi. All I had to do was extract the powershell tarball, chmod +x pwsh and run the script.

Truly awesome.

What blew my mind was Powershell was markedly faster on my Pi than it was on my Ubuntu server.

I’ll be posting more about the script soon, as I need to figure out some things still. But it will be released in due time. I really like it!

Edit 7-03-2026: That server status script became much more in depth than I ever planned. I’d still like to learn github better one of these days, and upload projects there.
